It’s not like other reality shows.

For Eurovision fans, who probably shed tears over the fact that this year’s competition in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, was canceled due to covid-19, the film “Eurovision Song: A Tale of Four Sagas” will be a band-aid.

enough dust!

Filmkomedien, about the Icelandic duo Four Saga’s chance to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest, premiered on Netflix on Friday. Given the four reviews of Dagbladet.

But the film offers more than a humorous look at the world’s biggest music competition. Our Eurovision winner Alexander Rybak is also a guest in the film, a secret he kept all year.

– We started recording in September, but artists are used to sperrefrister. I’ve never felt like an actor, but it’s always fun to play yourself,” Rybak tells Dagbladet.

Grand Prix – The heir to the throne says he was “delighted” to be on the same set as Will Ferrell. The latter plays Icelander Lars Eriksson, an adult guttemann obsessed with winning the ESC, much to the disappointment of his fisherman’s father.

– But Will is clever with icebreakers, and he would call me vinnerlåten something new every time we talked. He makes me laugh, both in front of and behind the camera,” he says.

Although the newspaper reviewer gave the film a four, the international press gave the comedy a lukewarm reception.

Not exactly a win, but not exactly zero points either, Digital Spy wrote, referring to the competition’s scoring system.

However, Rybak’s film seems to have been an ironic tribute to the competition.

I think it’s delicious with parody when it’s done with the heart. Especially the Russian character was in place!

At the beginning of June, the singer and violinist shared posts on Instagram and her official Facebook profile in which she wrote about the secret she has lived with for eleven years.

In the post, it was revealed that Alexander was addicted to antidepressants and sovemediciners during these years.

“Started off harmlessly but towards the end almost destroyed my life. I started rehab in January (with good help from my doctors) and slowly starting to feel like myself again,” the 33-year-old wrote.

She tells Dagbladet that during the Eurovision shoot, the film had 200 extras, which could be overwhelming considering the anxiety she has lived with for so long.

– I was very nervous about playing with a large audience, but the director was a warm person and made me feel very calm and relaxed – says Alexander.

in the spring, when “everything” went wrong for Ulrikke, she received a letter about the paper

Rybak says he received a letter from director David Dobkin about his involvement in the film.

We quickly became friends. In fact, he did my favorite movie with Jackie Chan. As a former winner, you are constantly invited to return to this beautiful universe. It is good publicity for those thinking of joining MGP”, he says.

Alexander was supposed to take a big break during this year’s Eurovision final. He says the movie was a “wonderful substitute.” For many Americans, the Netflix comedy was her first encounter with Eurovision. For Rybak, this means the honor and glory of the 2009 win lives on.

– I feel that they are discovering the competition at their own pace. Every day I get messages from new Americans who saw it on YouTube and congratulate me like I just won. It’s pretty surreal,” she says.
