Beginners luck is a new romantic comedy that will debut exclusively on Netflix on Thursday, July 27, 2023. The film is an adaptation of Katherine Center’s acclaimed novel of the same name. It is the fifth novel by the author, which was published in 2015. The upcoming film adaptation of the novel was written and directed by Vicky Wight.

The upcoming film will follow the story of a recently divorced woman in her 30s, named Helen, who has never taken a risk in her life. However, she will enjoy new and exciting adventures when she completes the Appalachian Trail Survival Course. The story will also focus on her relationship with Jake, a close friend of her brother’s whom she meets during the course.
The film will also shed light on some important topics, such as self-care and self-love, as the protagonist goes on a quest to find and understand her true self. She will also see her begin to learn how to live her life to the fullest and love again. Therefore, viewers will surely enjoy this gripping and funny story.
In an interview with Netflix’s Tudum, the director revealed that she took creative liberties when adapting Center’s book of the same name.
“Katherine is the perfect writer when it comes to adaptation because she has no hands. She understands that a novel can’t go word for word on the screen, so she’s very supportive of the process of reshaping the story while maintaining the integrity of its source material. There’s a reason novels are considered ‘based’ or ‘inspired’ when they’re adapted, and Katherine really gets it,” she said.
