Ormskirk stabbing: Matthew Daulby, 19, named as victim of horror attack as family pay tribute to ‘loving young man’

THE family of a teenager stabbed to death in a town centre have paid an emotional tribute to him.

Matthew Daulby, 19, was named by police as the victim of a knife attack in Ormskirk, Lancs, just after midnight on Saturday.

Matthew’s heartbroken family called him the “most compassionate, loving and funny young man with a bright future ahead of him”.

They added: “He adored his family, and cared for them with utmost loyalty.

“He loved spending time with them and gave his love so generously, making sure everyone knew how much he loved them.

“He had a zest for life and was always looking forward to holidays with his family and friends.

“He was surrounded by love from his family and we will miss him every day, for the rest of our lives.”

A second teenager was hospitalised after the attack with injuries that are said to be not life threatening.

Two suspects, both aged 19, were arrested on suspicion of affray following the double stabbing in the Railway Road area.

A Lancashire Police spokesperson said: ” A 19-year-old man from Liverpool and a 19-year-old man from Maghull have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They remain in custody at this time.

“A significant area within the town centre has been secured as a crime scene.

“Anyone with information or footage is asked to call 101, quoting log 0006 of July 29, 2023.”

Cops cordoned off streets and patrolled the scene after the fatal stabbing.

West Lancashire Borough Council tweeted: “Due to a police incident in Ormskirk Town Centre last night, areas on Moor Street and Railway Road have been cordoned off.

“Some market traders have been relocated, but the market is open as usual.”
