The man saw that one of the fawns was injured and decided to help her because the young deer’s mother would not be able to protect the deer from predators.
He brought the deer home. He tries to heal his injured leg. He regularly breastfed the chicks and took care of them.
He did it with a lot of love and attention. The man even licked the deer’s face the same way a mother does with her baby.
Thanks to this kind man, the baby deer feels strong and happy. Lane befriends a dog and a cat. But what the baby deer did next surprised the man.
When the chick’s health improved, the man returned the chick to its mother.
Lane returned to his family, but did not stop visiting the man. Lane became very attached to the man.
