As 2022 comes to a close, Nigerian celebrity marriages are falling apart faster than my month long MTN data plan.
Basketmouth and Elsie, more than a dozen celebrities in Nigeria who were previously married or engaged have separated, divorced, or in the case of Julius Agwu and Ibiera, Ibiere simply stopped living with Julius.
While there are plenty of new couples to root for (hello Rita Dominic and Fidelis Anosike!), it’s time to reflect on the Nigerian celebrities whose marriages fell apart this year.

Basket Mouth confirmed the breakup on Instagram, saying: “after much consideration. My wife and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage.”
2. December 2022: Julius Agwu and Ibiere
Julius Agwu, 44, made the announcement in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze saying his wife has had enough and must leave their marriage.
December 3, 2022: Paul Okoye and Anita
Anita filed for divorce from Paul Okoye, citing five main reasons: adultery, fictitious separation, absent parents, fraud, and other aggravating circumstances.

December 7, 2022: Funke Akindele and JJC
JJC Skillz, the stage name of Abdulrasheed Bell, has announced a divorce from his marriage to Nollywood star Funke Akindele. In a post on Instagram, Mr. Bello made their divorce official from him, six years after their wedding and multiple reports of their separation.
October 8, 2022: Orise Femi and Nabila Fash
