At Florida’s Big Cypress National Preserve, a group of python hunters banded together to capture a massive 17-foot snake weighing close to 90 pounds. Yes, you read that right. According to reports, the giant python was discovered by 45-year-old conservationist Mike Elfenbein and his 17-year-old son Cole while they were scouring the 7,29,000-hectare reserve for an invasion of snakes.

After spotting the monstrous-looking snake, fellow hunters Trey Barber, Carter Gavlock and Holden Hunter joined them to catch it, reports UPI.
Elfenbein told CBS News, “We were strangers. But the five of us knew we had to catch this thing.”
According to Elfenbein, Gavlock first grabbed the snake by the tail. Then Gavlock and Cole captured the snake’s head. As the five men tried to knock him to the ground, the python tried to fight them. The reptile repeatedly raised its body from the ground in an attempt to stop its captors and get them out of the way. (Also Read: South Delhi car owner finds 6ft python stuck in vehicle)
Elfenbein even shared the news of catching a giant python on Instagram. In the caption of the post, he wrote: “Officially 17’2″ and 198 pounds. This snake ate a lot of native wildlife to get this size. It ate its last meal! It took five of us to control it, I’m glad we removed it from of our Everglades where it can no longer eat our wildlife.”
