5 great anime to stream on Crunchyroll in May 2022

Crunchyroll is arguably the definitive streaming platform when it comes to exclusively watching anime — especially after the streamer bundled Funimation’s content with it.

The catalog currently available is impressive as it is, including for those looking to catch up on new and ongoing series shortly after they air in Japan. But Crunchyroll continues to add more anime series to its backlog. He is being hunted by bounty hunters because of the huge price on his head as he has left behind razed cities, but he has no recollection of doing anything so heinous.

The series follows the bombastic exploits of the titular alien hunter Dandy as Zapp Brannigan as he travels the galaxy searching for rare and unregistered aliens alongside his robot QT and cat-like alien Meow.

Any anime fans looking for a colorful and upbeat palette cleanser should be very pleased across the board Space Dandythere are 26 episodes. The anime was well received for its fun episodic story structure and shameless enjoyment of satirical, whimsically juvenile humor.

Black Lagoon and Roberta’s Blood Trail (Seasons 1-2 and OVA Episodes 1-5)

Initial D (Seasons 1-4)

A street racing manga by Shuichi Shigen Initial D was a cult classic that started in the 90s and ran until 2013. The series was adapted by several animation studios over six seasons, following Takumi Fujiwara and the world of underground Japanese street racing.

At first, Takumi seems uninterested in cars and street racing before it is revealed that he is the most skilled driver in the region working undercover and under the guise of a simple tofu delivery boy. Initial D was a manga icon for the street racing genre and future fans should find plenty to be excited about in the series, especially those looking for a Fast & Furious equivalent.

1st season Initial D will be available on Crunchyroll on May 10th, followed by seasons 2 and 3 on the 17th, and season 4 on the 24th.

Spy x Family (ongoing)

It was only a matter of time before Tatsuya Endo Spy x family would adapt. The shounen manga spy thriller is one of Shounen Jump’s most successful series on its digital Jump+ service, thanks to its irresistibly charming cast of characters, premise, and heartwarming theme of “found family” underneath it all. Veteran studio Wit Studio (Attack on Titan seasons 1-3, Vinland Saga) and CloverWorks (Fate/Grand Order, The promised Nedođija) depicts the biggest undercover operation Agent Twilight has ever pulled off — and that’s being part of a family.

Taking on the alias Loid Forger, Twilight goes on a high-stakes mission to quell political strife while acting out the family dynamic with Yor Briar, Anya, and their dog Bond. However, things get more complicated as each family member has something to hide from the others.

The first part of Spy x family the first season is live on Crunchyroll, and the second part will premiere this October to round out 2022, a year full of high-profile new anime.
