6 sisters defy odds, set to study nursing despite being homeless for a decade

Six sisters, who have lived through a decade of homelessness, embark on a journey together to earn a degree in nursing. Their challenging odyssey began in 2013 when their parents lost their home. Despite this, the parents’ determination to continue their children’s education remained unwavering. Their parents enrolled them in home schooling while they traveled from one place to another, living with relatives and friends.

“In 2013, the Lawrence siblings said they were struggling to attend school after their parents lost their home,” reads part of the caption written alongside the image shared on the Good News Movement’s Instagram page.

In the next few lines, the site added that the parents continued to teach their daughters. “The parents didn’t want it to hold them back so they homeschooled them, and the 6 oldest sisters earned their GEDs in 2019 and attended Nassau Community College together. They then enrolled at SUNY Old Westbury where they will receive degrees in public health in May. They also started a Master of Public Health program at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University in August. After that, they plan to enroll in nursing school. We are thrilled for all of you! You are good news today!” the inscription continues.
