7-year-old kid in China calls police, accuses father of hitting him just to avoid school

A Chinese boy used a surprising tactic to avoid school after failing to complete his homework. He reportedly called the police and claimed that his father had hit him. However, after the initial investigation, the police realized that the seven-year-old made up the story to avoid facing the consequences of not doing his homework at school.

What did the kid say to the police?

The incident took place in Lishui in the Chinese province of Zhejiang, reports the South China Morning Post (SCMP). The incident went viral after a video of the child’s conversation with police officers was shared on Chinese social media platform Weibo.

According to SCMP, the video shows the officer asking the boy, “Did you call the police? Who hit you?” To which the kid replied, “My dad.” The officer inquired further and tapped the boy lightly to make him realize how he was hit. After the boy replied that his father had hit him like that, the officer became suspicious because the hit “wasn’t was very strong”.

Finally, after further investigation, the officer concluded that the kid had only called the police to avoid school after failing to complete an assignment given to him by his teacher.

Instead of punishing the kid, the understanding policeman decided to help him and taught him a lesson. According to reports, he told the boy: “Let your uncle correct your exam paper first and then I will take you to school. Remember, every child has an obligation to attend school.”

The South China Morning Post reported that people were posting mixed reactions on Weibo. While some praised the officer for handling the situation smartly, others said that children should be properly educated about the consequences of making a false report. Some also talked about the pressure that parents put on children regarding their education.
