A puzzle that went viral on Xu (formerly known as Twitter) claims that 99% of people will fail to solve it. The teaser asks a simple question: “Which cup will be filled first?” Next to it is a picture of a faucet and several containers. Can you decipher which tank will fill first?

“What’s the answer?” reads the caption written alongside a brainstorm shared on the X handle @NoContextHumans. The puzzle shows a faucet and seven interconnected tanks. The pipes of some tanks are blocked. One even has a hole in it, meaning it can’t hold water. Can you figure out which container will fill with water first?

The puzzle was shared on October 6 on the microblogging platform. Since then, it has amassed more than 9.2 million views, and the numbers are still growing. Many even shared the answers in the comments section after solving the puzzle.
Here’s how X users reacted to this puzzle:
“7. So simple,” one person posted.
Another added: “2. For sure.”
“3 is the right answer,” claimed the third.
“It depends on how fast the water comes out of the tap. If it comes out faster than the amount diverted to 2 and 3, cup 1 might fill first,” commented a fourth.
“I will not fill because the water will always leave. 2 always leaks water to 7 so it can’t be. 7 has a hole in the bottom so it cannot be filled. 6 and 4 are blocked so that water cannot get inside. And 5 the pipe leading to it is blocked at the end so that water cannot reach it. Which means that 3 can only be filled because the tube up to 5 will eventually fill and then the cup will be refillable. In the end, the correct answer is 3,” declared the fifth.
