Abraham is an American singer, songwriter, musician and film producer. He is the father of Selena, the late singer and composer. He is a native Texan, born into a godly family. He was born on February 20, 1939 in Corpus Christi, Texas, United States. He was one of six children born to his parents. His father, Abraham Gonzalez Quintanilla, Sr., and his mother, Maria Tereza Calderon, gave birth to him.
His parents were vegetable, fruit and cotton pickers. He attended Roy Miller High School, but dropped out before graduating to pursue a career in the music business. Later that year, in 1957, he joined a band formed by his classmates. The band was called Los Dinos, and he eventually left the band to raise his family. When he discovered the potential of his six-year-old daughter Selena, he began teaching her, along with his son Abraham III, to play bass and his next daughter, Suzette, to play the drums.
They later formed the band Selena y Los Dinos. They managed to release six albums from the base. The whole family embarks on a musical adventure together. After Selena’s death in 1955, he was an executive producer on a film about her life.

Before the murder, the two met in a hotel room to discuss Saldivar’s suspicions that he had embezzled money. According to court documents, Saldivar killed her by mistake, and she was sentenced to life in prison.
