Now this is simply priceless. Developer Red Barrels, creator behind Outlive series, took to Kickstarter to offer an adult diaper companion called “Underscares.” According to the company, when players get scared, #2 can become problem #1, and that’s where the diaper comes in. We don’t fuck you.
To be completely honest, the Kickstarter project seems to be part of the hype generator for the upcoming sequel. Red Barrels said this after the release of the original Outlive, the team received “numerous reports” regarding dirty pants and “unprepared entertainers.” This prompted the studio to prepare players for Survive II by selling them an official diaper to wear when the game goes live.
“The underlines are 100 percent real and inspired Outlive to the community,” says the Kickstarter page. “Partnering with local designers, we’ve developed a prototype diaper that combines practicality, comfort and style so gamers can experience the ultimate horror without worrying about soiling their ego (or couch).”
The Kickstarter project offers five levels for Outlive fans. Pledge CA$5 or more and you’ll get a simple thank you. Pledge C$10 or more and fans will receive a kit to make their own Underscares diapers. After that, the CA$55 level provides Survive II A Steam key and a “Basic” Underscares diaper, a CA$75 tier offers a Steam key and a “Deluxe” Underscares diaper, and finally the crazy-expensive (and demonic) CA$6666 tier offers the Outlast Chapel.
According to Red Barrels, the Outlast Chapel pack includes six Deluxe diapers, six Survive II Steam keys, six Survive II sewing patches and a replica of the Red Barrels demo booth used during PAX East 2016 in April which is shaped like a chapel. Imagine playing the upcoming sequel on a PC or console inside a chapel-like structure that’s 16 feet tall, just over 14 feet wide, and just over 16 feet deep. Unbelievable.
The “Basic” diaper comes packed with components such as Ultra-Mesh Sewage Suppressor, Liquid-Lock elastic thigh “portals”, Middle Morph stretch waistband and Midnight Brownout abrasion-resistant fabric. The “Deluxe” model features a Fatasp Flavor-Ready drink pocket, a Lilwuss wearable nightlight, and Middle Morph enhanced waist support. All models come with an upside down cross stitched on the front for a more devilish look.
“While ensuring the quality of the final product, there is a possibility that pledge levels containing both Basic and Deluxe Underscares will have their delivery dates adjusted to ensure the quality of the final product or to accommodate higher than expected quantities,” Red Barrels added. “Production survive 2 Underscares is entirely dependent on the funding of this Kickstarter project, but the success or failure of the project will not affect publication survive 2.”
The Underscares Kickstarter project currently has 160 backers pledging $8,902 of the $29,818 goal as of this publication. The project will end on Thursday, December 8, at 11:59 p.m., when it will be realized Survive II the game will not be available until sometime during the first quarter of 2017.
