Suzanne Boutros met Akram Boutros at St. John’s University. They soon fell in love, the two getting married on December 5, 1986.
Now, as of 2022, the lovebirds have been married for over 36 years and are still going strong.
Even when Akram was first hired as a consultant to help out at St. Vincent-Manhattan Hospital in Cleveland, Suzanne often found time to visit him. At the time, she even said that the new job suits her husband perfectly and, considering that her three daughters will soon be on their own, it will be a “chance for both of them to hit the reset button.”
“Why not [start over] in an exciting and challenging way,” he noted before adding that it is such a positive step in the right direction. In fact, she was beyond excited to meet people in Cleveland leaving the Northeast and New York, where she “is a bit like dog eat dog.”
Speaking further about her husband’s passion for work, Suzanne said that Akram was truly a hard worker. “We’re all trying to keep up with him, to be honest. He has made changes and he will continue to make more changes and I think they will be good for Metro,” she added.
She also, of course, sided with her husband when he was accused of giving himself unauthorized four-year bonuses in 2022. The husband and wife were in a union, they said, the firing was revenge and that Akram had recently exposed board misconduct in its search for a new chief executive, led by board chair Vanessa Whiting.
As for the board at St. Vincent’s Hospital-Manhattan, they stated that they took the steps “carefully and deliberately, but with sadness and disappointment.” While acknowledging the wonderful things that Dr. Boutros has done for the hospital, they said that the CEOs should not be the judges and determine their entitlement to an additional bonus and in what amount.
To clear his name, Akram later even repaid the money with interest and went before the Ohio Ethics Commission.

Suzanne Boutros shares three children with Akram Boutros. They are: Jasmine, Shannon and Tess (all daughters). They each left their roots in New York and headed west to take advantage of the fantastic schools.
His daughter, Jasmine Boutros, has an MBA from Case Western Reserve University Weatherhead School of Management and a Juris Doctor from Case Western Reserve University School of Law. After completing her studies, Jasmine interned and later became a department manager at the Cleveland Clinic. As for Shannon Boutros, she started Graphic Design at Cleveland State University. She then joined Heinen’s Grocery for almost 6 years before becoming a banker at Rocket Mortgage. Now, since 2022, she works as a pharmacy assistant at the Options Naturopathic Clinic. She is also the owner and reiki teacher of Sol Reiki.
