The Amazing Race Season 34 was truly amazing. Cast members, including a former New York Jets head coach, NFL cheerleaders, ballroom dancers, motivational speakers and the stars of season 23 of Big Brother, have brought more viewers to the already popular show. But among them, Lumumba Roberts was just your average language consultant who joined the game to find out how he “gets along” with his wife Glenda.

CBS’s The Amazing Race returned for its 34th season on September 21, 2022, and for the first time in its history, the competition was held outside of the United States, in Munich, Germany.
Also, unlike previous seasons, there were 12 teams (instead of 11) competing for that incredible $1 million prize money. And not to mention, there were no non-elimination actions in the season, which was also greatly appreciated by longtime fans.
Super excited for the series premiere, Lumumba took to his IG to share: “WE ARE AN AMAZING 34 RACES IN THE SEASON. LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!”
In preparation, they watched previous seasons, jotted down strategy notes, and even learned how to kayak and rock climb, just in case. And luckily, they made it through the first round.
On the other hand, contestants Aastha Lal and Nina Duong (a newly engaged couple from Marina Del Ray, CA) placed last in tasks like rolling a beer keg through a series of obstacles, cutting a log to get to the trail, and chip a large block of ice with a chisel and they were eliminated.
So, the remaining contestants besides Lumumba and his wife Glenda were Abby Garrett (data scientist) and Will Freeman (accountant), Aubrey Ares (dance studio owner) and David Hernandez (helicopter mechanic), Derek Xiao (manager of product) and Claire Rehfuss (Artificial Intelligence Engineer), Emily Bushnell (Law Firm Administrator) and Molly Sinert (Health Services Administrator), Luis Colón (Firefighter) and Michelle Burgos (Dancer), Linton (Assistant Director) and Sharik Atkinson (Masters Student), Marcus (Military Tank Commander) and Michael Craig (Fighter Pilot), Quinton Peron (Choreographer) and Mattie Lynch (Dance Coach), Tim Mann (Probation Officer) and Rex Ryan (ESPN analyst), Rich Kuo (life coach), and Dom Jones (gym owner).
Glenda and Lumumba Robert’s relationship
Lumumba Roberts first met Glenda at church in October 2019. Connecting their mutual respect for consumer advocate Dave Ramsey, Lumumba later convinced Glenda to meet him at the Corner Bakery in Peachtree Corners to discuss “budget tips with Ramsey”.
A few days later they met, but never spoke of Ramsey. Instead, more than seven hours after their first “date”, they were still talking and Lumumba finally asked for a real date.
So, on their first date (November 15, 2019), Lumumba took Glenda dancing. “He picked me up and I immediately felt comfortable with him. It was SO much fun! It was the BEST first date either of us had ever been on,” Glenda recalled.
The following year, Lumumba asked Glenda to “find him” again, but this time in a dress, and he took her to a rooftop restaurant in Midtown Atlanta. There she suddenly got down on her knees, took her engagement ring out and asked the love of her life to marry him.
Finally, in 2021, the couple exchanged vows and traveled to Jamaica for their honeymoon.
Before dating Glenda, Lumumba had just gotten out of a relationship and ironically refused to date people from church.

Lumumba Roberts is a consultant called “The EPIC Educator”.
With over 16 years of experience teaching all grades, from kindergarten to college, Lumumba has overseen programs that have achieved 100% increases in language proficiency test scores for at-risk students.
Before becoming independent, Lumumba worked for a year as a “Language Arts Instructor” in the DeKalb County School District and for more than 4 years as a “Literacy Specialist/ESOL/High School Language Arts Teacher” at the Gwinnett InterVention Education (GIVE) East center for more than 4 years. .
