Anand Mahindra uses a parrot’s clip to raise concerns about excessive screen time

Admit it or not, most of us spend hours scrolling through our smartphones, switching from one social media platform to another. This has become a worrying behavior in today’s digital age. Now, Anand Mahindra has reached out to X to express his concerns about excessive screen time. He did this via a video of a parrot using a tablet just like humans.

“Parrots understand touchscreens and love looking at other parrots. Sounds familiar? Well, “parrot” means to imitate. But please tell this parrot that once you start imitating THIS habit of humans, there is no escape from another kind of ‘cage,'” Anand Mahindra posted alongside the video on X.

The clip shows a parrot using a tablet through its beak. It not only selects the video it wants to watch, but also scrolls the screen to find more videos. As the video progresses, the parrot man closes the YouTube window and closes the app from preview. However, the parrot then opens YouTube with its beak and selects the content it wants to watch.

Anand Mahindra shared the video a few hours ago on X. It has garnered more than 3.4 lakh views and the numbers are still growing. Additionally, the video has garnered over 3,600 likes and tons of retweets. Several also commented on the video.

Here’s how people reacted to the video shared by Anand Mahindra:

“Be careful, my friend. Once you start mimicking people, you’ll be hooked on our great screens and endless content. And then there is no going back. You’ll be trapped in a social media cage, endlessly scrolling through your feed, comparing yourself to others and feeling like you’re never enough. So enjoy your touchscreen while you can, but don’t get too attached. And if you start to feel like you’re losing control, just put it down and go,” wrote one person.

Another added: “This parrot can potentially become the first parrot YouTuber.”

“We destroy the parrots too!” shared a third.

A fourth announced, “It’s a cage that robs you of your productivity and just wastes you!”

“Well said, my pet turtle also does the same thing when in front of a laptop and cell phone screen,” expressed a fifth.
