A Belfast mother who lost her sight after getting her eyes tattooed says she should have heeded her 7-year-old daughter’s warnings.
A Belfast law student is losing her sight and regrets not following her seven-year-old daughter’s advice that she could go blind if she got her eyes tattooed.
A mother of five children, Amber Luke, a model from Australia who dyed her eyes blue in 2019 and became known as the “blue-eyed dragon,” served as the inspiration for Anaya Peterson.
However, Anaya, 32, was not so privileged; her disfigured eye caused her to be hospitalized and face irreversible blindness after what was likely an allergic reaction to eye ink.
Currently trending on social media, Anaya Peterson had her right eye tattooed blue in July 2020. Later that year, in December, despite headaches and dry eyes as “part of the healing process,” He decided to tattoo his left eye purple. .

Anaya was shocked when he woke up in August last year to find his eyelids “puffy” and his face “bloated with air”, as if he had just fought “10 rounds with Mike Tyson” after months without problems.
Anaya was admitted to the hospital’s emergency department because the swelling was worsening and prescription drugs were failing to relieve the “severe inflammation.”
The tattoo enthusiast was first put on “drip meds” for three days and then underwent biopsy surgery on his problematic eyeball the next day.

According to Anaya’s statement, India never agreed to the bizarre tattoo because she was worried her mother would “go blind,” a situation Anaya is reportedly facing now that her eyesight is deteriorating.

The experience made the mother regret her decision to emulate Australian alternative Amber Luke, even though Anaya was “on the mend” when she was released from hospital after surgery.
According to ophthalmologists, Anaya has a very high probability of developing glaucoma and his vision is already deteriorating. She claims that “hundreds of thousands of hoverflies” are obstructing her vision.
A law student at the People’s Open University says that the school helps her and provides her with resources such as reading aids and counselling, in addition to help. Anaya insists that the negative comments she’s been receiving online about her alternate appearance are normal and she’s choosing to be optimistic.
