Anthony Redding Criminal history
Back in 2005, Anthony Redding, then 16, pleaded guilty last week to felony possession of cocaine and conspiracy to distribute drugs. He was sentenced to prison terms of two to five years, all suspended. He was also given credit for the time he has spent in jail for lack of bail since his arrest in May.
Terms of Anthony’s probation included being released from prison to participate in a residential addiction treatment program in New York. He and his co-defendants were arrested in May after a month-long investigation by the Rutland city police narcotics unit into the trafficking of crack cocaine between Rutland and upstate New York, according to court records. According to court documents, an informant led police in May to Richard J. Messina, 35, who admitted to selling crack cocaine in the Rutland area for Miller and Anthony for about a month in exchange for drugs for his own use.
Richard said he sold crack to between five and ten customers a day, while Richard and Miller dealt directly with only a few customers, according to the police affidavit. Police said shortly after questioning Richard, they arrested Miller and Anthony in a city parking lot where they watched the couple for three hours.
Officers said a search of Anthony revealed several pieces of crack cocaine hidden in his shoe. The crack cocaine weighed about 9.5 grams, including the packaging, according to court records. Richard was also arrested as part of the investigation. He was ordered to appear in court next week to answer a charge of conspiracy to distribute cocaine.
Richard, who was not in police custody, appeared in court but left the courthouse in Merchants Row shortly before his hearing was due to start. A $50,000 warrant was issued for his arrest. Jennifer L. Litch, 25, of Forest Dale, the fourth person arrested in the investigation, has already pleaded no contest to drug conspiracy charges. She is serving a prison sentence of 12 to 48 months.
Two years later, in 2007, he pleaded guilty to failing to notify his probation officer of a drug arrest in New York and failing to meet with an officer as directed — both violations of probation. He was sentenced to 10 months in prison, with credit for the approximately four months he has already spent behind bars.
