After four seasons, the acclaimed HBO Max series barry it finally came to an end, leaving fans with a killer-sized hole in their TV viewing schedule. The black comedy crime drama was the perfect blend of humor and murderous rage. Bill Hader stars as a former US Marine and assassin who accidentally ends up taking an acting class taught by the man who will be pivotal in his life, Gene Cousineau (Henry Winkler). What follows is a wild ride with a criminal looking to quit his job after finding a potential new path that encourages him. But there’s a problem: the bad guys are after him and none of his new friends know his true identity.
Sounds familiar? This is because the premise shares similarities with other popular shows. If you haven’t seen any of these but love Barry, they’re worth checking out.
Breaking Bad (2008-2013)
Probably one of the best series of the 21st century, breaking bad it became a part of pop culture history. Interestingly, the main character’s arc goes in the opposite direction of Barry’s. Walter White (Bryan Cranston) is a high school chemistry teacher who lives bitterly over what happened to his life and his lost scientific mind. However, a terminal cancer diagnosis puts things into perspective, and White ends up down the rabbit hole of the criminal underworld. He wants to earn money to support his family when he’s gone, so he uses his knowledge of science to create the purest meth a drug dealer (or user) has ever seen. But when White feels valued and powerful like never before, he becomes the worst possible version of himself.
A male lead, a journey involving the criminal underworld and unsuspecting friends and family, and everything finally falling into place, is a story fans will love. barry will be too familiar with, and love.

Better Call Saul (2015-2022)
prequel series to breaking badthat’s not surprising Better call Saul it fits perfectly too. The protagonist is Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), who calls himself Saul Goodman, a mischievous lawyer who tries to change, but keeps falling back on his old con man ways. Despite passing the bar and doing everything possible to shake off his tarnished reputation, no one takes Saul seriously. For this reason, he surrenders to the current and becomes a lawyer, defending the lowest strata of society. Prostitution, drug charges, even murder, are no match – he promises to get you out of almost any bind, often using nefarious tactics, sometimes even illegal ones. At one point, Saul really wanted to be a better person, just like Barry wanted to be.
Although Saul was not an aspiring actor, he did a lot of acting to get what he needed for his clients and even for himself. Like Barry, he faced off against the criminals who were chasing him, growing more ferocious by the minute. The tone of the series, with a touch of humor and darkness in each episode, makes this series similar as well.

Dexter (2006-2013)

One of the best serial killer TV shows of this generation, if not the best. he the best, Right handed it centers on another male lead who struggles with morality and the heinous things he does. Like Barry, Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall) justifies his murder by telling himself that the person deserved to die. They did terrible things. Dexter never really tries to be on the right track. He acknowledges that he has dark urges and he has no choice but to indulge them. But he occasionally wrestles with the morality of what he’s doing, like when his wife Rita is murdered or when he’s faced with the possible death of his sister.
Basically, both series are about troubled men who love what they do and can’t shake it off. Right handed not as witty as barry, but it’s the kind of show that once you start watching, you won’t be able to stop. Already seen Right handed? Watch the continuation of the series. Mr. Between (2018-2021)

As barrythe main character in Mr. Come in, an Australian black comedy-drama, is a killer. Ray Shoesmith (Scott Ryan) does his dirty work at night and leads a seemingly normal life during the day. He doesn’t hang out with actor friends, but he is a family man with a girlfriend, children, a close friend and a terminally ill brother who depend on him for support.
Ray balances two lives the same way Barry does, but they quickly start to clash. The more violent and heinous his crimes become, the more they spill over into Ray’s personal life, and he finds it hard to separate them.

Fargo (2014–present)

Fargo, inspired by the 1996 film of the same name, is about your average Joe who hatches a plan to have two thugs kidnap his wife, call it a kidnapping, and force his wealthy father-in-law to pay a ransom so he can pocket the money. But the plan doesn’t exactly go smoothly, leading to plenty of dark comedy moments reminiscent of those seen in Barry.
There are bloody and gruesome murders, but the series manages to maintain its tone of dark, albeit disturbing, humor. Fargo will appeal to viewers with different tastes because it has a little bit of everything, and its tone and rhythm are like barry.
