Phil Waldron, a retired Army colonel, made discredited claims about voting machines to senior Trump White House officials and Trump allies. Rudy Giuliani ally Bernie Kerik previously testified before the select panel that it was Waldron who first proposed that Trump issue an executive order to seize voting machines after the 2020 election.
Phil is also known for sending Meadows a PowerPoint presentation calling on Trump to declare martial law after the election. He told The Washington Post that he spoke with Meadows about the voter fraud allegations after the vote and made a presentation to congressmen on January 5, 2021.
In mid-December, the select panel issued Phil a subpoena for documents and testimony; however, it is not known if he actually spoke before the commission. He filed the lawsuit in an attempt to block the selection panel from obtaining his AT&T phone records after investigators also served him with a subpoena for them.
According to court documents, Waldron filed the suit in Collin County, Texas, but AT&T transferred the case to federal court on Friday. Waldron describes himself in his filings as a “consultant” retained by the Texas-based attorneys “to assist in the investigation of election-related matters for clients.” [the] Lawyers.”
Waldron also said in the documents that he signed a non-disclosure agreement “to keep confidential all information related to the investigation that the attorneys are conducting for their clients regarding the election.” William Bundren, who previously represented several pro-Trump activists who tried to sue former Vice President Mike Pence and claimed to be actual presidential voters in states where Biden won, is representing Waldron in the lawsuit.
