Several graves in the Gruissan cemetery, a seaside resort in Aude, were marked with swastikas and hateful graffiti, Narbonne prosecutor Marie-Agnès Joly told AFP on Monday, confirming the information to France 3 Occitania.

On Sunday, a guard at the Gruissan cemetery saw the damage, “acts of vandalism on the subject of anti-Semitism and racism,” the prosecutor said. According to Marie-Agnès Joly, “inscriptions and swastikas were found on numerous graves”. The burials are intact, she said. According to France 3 Occitania, the inscriptions “Death to the French”, “Death to the Jews”, “Sold”, “Nadar” are specifically identified on the tombstones, and the graves appear to have been chosen at random.
