Bachelor's Ashley Spivey Remembers Late Son on His Due Date 2 Months After Pregnancy Loss

A moving message. Ashley Spivey admired her late son’s due date in a touching Instagram tribute on Monday, February 1.

“Instead of bringing our son home today, we brought him home in early December in this beautiful urn,” the 36-year-old graduate student captioned the photo, which showed a gold urn, a notepad with the words “CJ” and a dog print shirt. “Every morning I have him by my side and I wish things were different. That my heart didn’t break into a million pieces. I could have gotten to the hospital a little bit sooner.”

The North Carolina native went on to write: “Snow paralyzed New York today. I imagine this is CJ entering the world in a different way. Allowing all households here every day to be together or play together in the snow. Giving all of us a little break. We will miss you forever.”

Bachelor Nation member Catherine Giudici commented on the broadcast on social media: “I want you to adore a friend.”

Spivey suffered a miscarriage in November 2020 and recounted the disaster on her Instagram story. “They had a hard time locating the heartbeat so they did two ultrasounds with two different doctors,” the former reality star wrote from the hospital at the time. “But the end result was exactly the same. CJ died sometime between my visit to the doctor and my visit to the hospital.”

The former ABC personality received an epidural and gave birth to her baby boy. “I am very sad and very scared but more than anything I am completely broken,” Spivey wrote alongside a selfie of her from her hospital bed. “I really feel like a failure…I’m so sad that I couldn’t protect him”

“I found out I was pregnant VERY early,” she captioned the ultrasound at the time. “This was truly a much-wanted pregnancy. Steve and I are ready for a home. But this moment was not meant to happen. While fetal pole heart activity was noted by the doctor at 6 weeks, on Monday (week 8) my Sister and Steve in the room got the bad news: that the embryo had shrunk and the doctor concluded that she was having a miscarriage.”

Spivey competed for Brad Womack’s heart on season 15 of The Bachelor.
