The latest series of The Great British Bake Off spin-off, Bake Off: The Professionals aired its episodes on Channel 4 from 4 July 2023 onwards. It came with a brand new co-host and new contestants. Mayank and Dharma from St James’ Court, A Taj Hotel, about whom we will talk now, are one pair of contestants from the show. In this text, we will tell you everything about them separately.
Mayank and Dharma on Bake Off: The Professionals
So far, not much has been revealed about Mayank and Dharma’s journey Bake Off: The Professionals. The only thing we realized was that they weren’t sent home and were still in the competition when week 1 ended. Andrew and Raf won the round and Martyn and Jenny were sent home. Professional bakers Mustapha and Tracy, Chantelle and Kasia from Glenapp Castle, Margo and Ally from Lexington Catering, Martyn and Jenny, Mauro and Daniel from The Landmark London, Nicoletta and Georgina from Meraki Baking Studio and several others also joined Mayank in this Bake Off challenge.
These contestants were joined by judges Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden and Liam Charles as the new host.
Mayank and Dharma career
Mayank’s passion for sweets started as a child when he helped his family prepare dishes for Diwali. Therefore, it is amazing that what started as an innocent hobby for him turned into one of the biggest passions of his life. From February 2022, he works full-time in James’ Court, A Taj Hotel in London as Jr. Sous chef-Pastry.
Prior to that, he was at the Taj Bengal in Kolkata and even before that at the London Business School on the Blue Mint Leadership Program.
Between 2013 and 2016, he was at AIHM, Chandigarh where he obtained a Diploma in Hospitality Administration/Management. He also went to Ghaziabad Public School in Delhi from 1999 to 2013.
Talking about Dharma, he is Mayank’s colleague, friend and co-star. He has a career spanning 30 years. Starting in Nepal, he moved to the UK where he began working in some of London’s most prestigious hotels, including the Dorchester, Langham and Berkeley.
Dharma received an NVQ 2 Diploma in Label Management and Leadership from London. Before that, he studied economics at Tribhuvan University in Nepal.
Mayank and the Dharma Age
Mayank’s birthday is in August, and he was born in 1995. So, in 2022, he turned 27 years old.
As for Dharma, he was born before 1983. So by 2022, he should not have been more than 39 years old.
