Nick Hall has been a part of the Bargain Hunt for over 14 years.
But he initially entered the world of the BBC as an antiquities expert with Flog it. One fateful day, he was asked to screen test as an expert, and a few years later, while filming an auctioneer’s conversation with Bargain Hunt, he was asked if he’d like to become one of his experts.
His favorite part of the BBC show was the excitement and drama of sale day. Being at the lectern holding the gavel, with offers pouring in rapidly from the packed sales floor, from the countless phone offers and internet streaming from around the world, gave him a rush of adrenaline.
So far, her most memorable colleague on the series is Maeve the Rave. I think Maeve stands out in Stamford, an elderly lady with the tenacity and spirit of someone half her age, but also with the face of a teenager,” she explained.
All things considered, he’s proud to be a part of the Bargain Hunt. He believes that the series is successful because of the fascinating and charming characters and challenges combined with great knowledge.
Did you know: In the Bargain Hunt, Nick’s biggest win was £500 on a pair of Japanese vases (see above). And his biggest loss may have been at a very rustic and gruesome pig bank (where pigs are slaughtered!) sold for less than £100.

Auctioneer, appraiser, antiques expert and television personality, Nick began his career in antiques in his late teens. At that point, he dropped out of Sixth Form College in Sussex, deciding he’d rather go out into the real world, get his hands dirty and find “something interesting” to earn a living.
With no career planned, Nick investigates various local businesses that “looked interesting” for openings, including a theater, radio station, and local auctioneers, among others.
Nick is now an auctioneer and appraiser at Bentley’s Fine Art Auctioneers Ltd. His auction house held an auction of 1,000 lots every first Saturday of the month. And he sold items that included an eclectic range of antiques, 20th-century designs, collectibles, fine art and modern art, unusual interior pieces, and decorative furnishings.
For those interested in buying, the company ran regular monthly sales throughout the year. And for those who want to sell, they can bring their items for appraisal at The Old Granary freon Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.
The main advantage of working with them is that they provide free estimates for the goods to be auctioned. They also offer a local in-house pickup and delivery service for merchandise consigned for sale or for larger items purchased at auction.
