Strong co-wrote iconic songs like Heard It Through the Grapevine and War after singing on the label’s first hit, Money, in 1960. He wrote several chart-topping songs, including “Money (That’s What I Want),” which was a hit for both The Beatles and himself.
After learning that his name had been removed from Money’s credit list in 2010, Barrett spent the rest of his life searching for a piece of the song’s royalties.
