But it doesn’t work, estimates Pretzener architect Markus Heilmaier: “Right now, I would be more likely to get married somewhere else,” he says: “It will probably take eight to ten years until everything is ready.”
At the moment it is not clear who will cover the costs of the renovation, says the city’s pastor Martin Garmaier: “We expect to see costs in the tens of millions that our parish cannot handle.” At the request of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising, press spokesperson Christina Tangier made the matter clear: “In this case, the Ordinariate is expected to be around 80 percent, which will take over 20 percent of the costs for the parish.” Current preliminary studies should show exactly how high they are, so Garmaier: “After this, the Archdiocese should give the green light for the renovation.”
