Alone Wiki

Alone is an interesting American survival competition series that is shown on History. The series chronicles the daily struggles of 10 individuals (or seven paired teams in Season 4) as they face the terrifying challenge of surviving alone in the wild. Equipped with only limited survival gear, participants document their experiences as they strive to endure the harsh conditions for as long as possible.

During their journey, they are completely isolated from each other and from all other human contact, except for occasional medical check-ups. If they feel the need, they have the option to “opt out” and leave the competition at any time or they can be removed for failing a medical assessment.

The ultimate prize for the contestant who manages to stay the longest in the wild is the $500,000 grand prize, which has increased to an impressive $1 million starting in Season 7. Each season takes place in a remote location, often on land controlled by the indigenous population, providing diverse settings for the show.

Previous filming locations have included northern Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Nahuel Huapi National Park in Argentine Patagonia, northern Mongolia, Great Slave Lake in the Northwest Territories, and Lake Chilko in the interior of British Columbia.

Benji Alone Season 9 Disease

On day 24, Benji spends some time sharpening and cleaning his tools before embarking on his next task—the kneading beam. This specialized tool helps remove fat and meat from animal hides. Benji skillfully uses the beam to remove as much meat as possible from the beaver skin, intending to melt the fat for preservation.

In a surprising turn of events, even though he already has a supply of beaver meat and fat, Benji decides to hunt a grouse. His first two attempts with the bow miss the mark, but he perseveres and makes a triumphant birdie on the third attempt. Expressing his gratitude to the camera, Benji admits to his lucky success with the bow, never expecting to catch such a variety of game.

Later that evening, Benji prepares a meal of grouse meat and some beaver fat. Enjoying the flavors, he describes the fat as an explosion of flavors in his mouth. However, the next day brings unexpected consequences.

After waking up, Benji has a severe pain in his stomach. In an effort to restore the flow of energy within his body, he engages in a short Qigong session. Assuming his discomfort stems from overindulging the night before, he goes in search of some yarrow, hoping it will ease his stomach discomfort.

Benji locates a yarrow near the river, but despite taking a short nap, he wakes up still feeling sick. As the day progresses, his condition worsens, accompanied by fever, chills, stomach cramps and nausea. Although he manages to avoid vomiting, Benji clings to the hope that a restful night will bring relief.

However, at 2 am, Benji wakes up suddenly and vomits. Persistent stomach cramps pervade his night, and he honestly shares his painful torment with the camera. By 6 a.m., sleep had completely eluded him, leaving him weakened and barely able to move.

Recognizing the gravity of his situation, the survivalist realizes that his time in the competition has come to an end. Despite his disappointment, he expresses deep gratitude for the opportunity to witness the changing seasons in Labrador and the invaluable lessons he learned from his participation in Alone.

What happened to Benji on Sam?

During Season 9 of Sam, Benji faced a series of challenges that eventually led to his departure from the show. On day 21, his pile of entrails attracted a bear, but he decided not to shoot it because the weather wasn’t cold enough to freeze the carcass. Benji completed his new shelter, pleased with the improved warmth and spaciousness.

However, on day 26, he woke up with abdominal pain, which he initially attributed to overeating. Despite trying to retune his body with Quigong and seeking yarrow to relieve his ailments, his condition worsened. Benji had a fever, chills, stomach cramps and nausea, but he couldn’t find relief. Eventually he threw up and realized he probably had giardia, known as “beaver fever.”

With his illness affecting his well-being and fearing for his survival, Benji made the difficult decision to quit on day 27. Although disappointed, he remained grateful for the experience and knowledge gained during his time on Alone.
