'Big Brother' Winner Jackson Michie Says He Was Going Through Medication Withdrawal on the Display

Jackson Michie admitted to TikTok followers that he struggled with drug addiction during the now 21st season of Big Brother.

The 25-year-old Nashville native, who won the show in 2019, made the show in a TikTok film that was uploaded on Friday, January 22. “My scariest post ever. I hid my addiction from the world, won the show and won my life back,” he wrote in the caption.

“Before I got on Big Brother, I was addicted to Xanax, I was struggling with Adderall and cocaine, and I took my last Xanax less than two weeks before I went on this show,” he confirmed in the recording. “At the age of 23, I went through Xanax rehabilitation, recovery after surgery [to get a’stress-induced blood clot’]on national television for 100 days and defeat 15 individuals to be the winner of Big Brother 21.”

Michie is “proudly drug free,” according to his TikTok caption. He also followed up his first post with a second, explaining how he hopes sharing his story on a public stage will help him “hold myself accountable.”

Then he said, “I don’t want to go back down the same paths I’ve taken and live the identical life I’ve lived.”

He said at the time, “I just started carrying that recipe before I got on the show. We use recipes as a crutch occasionally, I’ve been there.” Michie told Bass he believed he was “going to have to kick himself out” a few days into the season due to his addiction, but he was able to push through.

Crediting the show with helping him get clean, Michie said: “It’s what made me who I am.”

While watching Big Brother 2019, Michie met Holly Allen. “We both fell in love with the first apartment we saw,” said the couple at the time. They added that living together feels “organic” after living under the same roof on the CBS competition series.

Although they told us they were “mostly attached at the hip” for a year, they woke up in June after a year of dating. “Life works in crazy ways, and last year was no exception. Through ups, downs, ups and downs. . Through it all, it’s been constant and that’s a wonderful woman standing next to me. Life has continued to work in ways not foreseen, and life will unfortunately take us in different directions,” Michie wrote in an Instagram post at the time.
