Bonnie Pointer, one of the four sisters who founded the American pop and rhythm and blues group the Pointer Sisters, has died at the age of 69, the practice announced on its website.
The four sisters — Bonnie, Anita, Ruth and June — began singing at their father’s church in Oakland, California, before finding fame in the 1970s. Among their successes are hits like “I’m So Excited” and “Jump (For My Love)”.

The quartet won their first Grammy Awards for the song Fairytale in 1975. The song, co-written by Bonnie and Anita, won Best Country Duo and was recorded by Elvis Presley.

Bonnie Pointer left the group in the mid-70s to start a solo career, and had his biggest success in 1978 with the hit song Heaven Must Have Feel You. “Our family is devastated” by Bonnie’s disappearance, Anita Point told CNN.
