A Channel 4 spokesperson told MailOnline: “The couple’s date was featured in the show. Together with experts Paul, Mel and Charlene, they agreed that the intense environment of Married at First Sight was not working for the couple and that the time was right to leave the experiment.”
“Married at First Sight UK relationships are closely monitored off-screen by production and an independent psychologist. If either relationship develops in a way that is considered potentially unhealthy for either party, we would accept professional psychological advice as to whether it is time for them to leave the process.”
A spokesperson concluded: “The welfare of all contributors to Married at First Sight UK is our top priority and we ensure appropriate support is available to contributors at all times during filming, including 24-hour access to a member of the social care team or psychiatric support.”
In Tuesday’s episode, after Shona expressed her disgust at the other couples for “doubting” them, Brad shouted at her to “shut up” and said she was being “emotionally immature”. During the wedding ceremony, the couple discussed their differences, but Brad immediately called Shona “emotionally immature” before saying she needed to “teach” her how to control her anger.

Brad talked about their fight over dinner and shared his opinion that they were at “different levels of emotional maturity” during the ceremony.

Shona then admitted she wasn’t sure how to feel before declaring that at the dinner her “natural human reaction” was to wonder why other couples were giving them low marks for compatibility. Brad then said, “I live in my boat, so all I have to worry about is the interior. That’s what I was trying to explain to Shona, they have so many rights…”

Brad, who has apparently already moved on with a new girlfriend from his hometown after hitting the headlines for the wrong reasons, spoke to The Mirror about being portrayed negatively, giving his side of the story.
Brad admitted that he was never in love with the teacher, but the “strong emotional environment” with “no external influences and guidance” made it easy to confuse lust with love. He said Mirror: “I can definitely confirm that I was not in love, but at the time it was a strong feeling of lust that I messed with.”
Brad added, “Yeah, because you don’t have a lot of outside influences or guidance like you do in the outside world, because in the outside world you have a lot of freedom and flexibility to actually find out if that’s the case. You know, when I was in there, I was really trying to make it work. So I think a lot of the time when I was saying those things, I was trying my best, you know, to make things really work, but I was really trying to navigate it to be honest.”
However, he understood why he got a lot of backlash for the way he spoke to/about Shona. The model claimed that it “never intended” to “project certain terminology”. Agreeing with the experts who called him out and corrected him, he said: “I agree with what they say [about his controlling language].
“So the way I project certain terminology, however, is never intended that way. And for me, when I said that if I ‘let Shona do this, she’ll never learn’. Yeah, the whole conversation was more from the heart and the feeling, Well, ’cause me and Shona or a partnership, and we’re kind of trying to look out for each other, it’s in each other’s best interest to kind of have each other’s backs, you know, so if we let to each other to be thugs or to want to lead each other, you know what I mean? So if we let each other slip into situations we’re aware of, we’ll both never learn.’ Obviously the part where I said that was cut out and I totally understand how that feels.”
