Iowa Hawkeyes point guard Caitlin Clark is on top of the world after turning in one of the greatest individual performances in NCAA history. She notched her first triple-double with 40 points against Iowa and led Iowa to the Final Four for the first time in 30 years. The Iowa young guard also recently accepted the Naismith Player of the Year award, and her parents were very proud to stand with their daughter as she accepted the award. When asked by WHO13 News how it felt to see her daughter receive the award, Caitlin’s mother Anne Nizzi-Clark said: “Pretty amazing. It’s been a fantastic journey to here and [we’re] super proud of her.”
Caitlin’s father, Brent Clark, added: “It’s more than just an individual award. It’s really a team award… and you don’t get those assists without your teammates.”

It turns out that Caitlin got the athletic gene from her father, Brent. He was a two-sport athlete for Simpson College. He was a four-year winner for the baseball and basketball teams from 1985-1988. Brent earned first-team all-conference honors for the baseball team in 1985, ’87 and ’88 and earned second-team honors for all conferences in ’86.
Caitlin has an amazing relationship with her father, Brent Clark. On Father’s Day (June 20, 2022), Caitlin wrote: “Happy Father’s Day to my first coach and now my biggest fan! Thank you for being the best father and the most selfless person I know! I love you forever.”
