Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was the game that launched the current state of Call of Duty. Blackout mode was the franchise’s first look at Battle Royale and followed the model set by Fortnite. Fast forward to 2020 and everyone knows how popular Call of Duty: Warzone has become. Although Black Ops 4 only dipped its toes into Battle Royale, it gave us incredible zombie experiences, the likes of which we have never seen. Black Ops: Cold War has taken up the mantle, but there’s something about fending off hordes of zombies in ancient Aztec ruins that feels different. Here are some helpful tips and tricks if you go back to zombie mode in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

There are two separate campaigns divided into three maps
Standard version Black Ops 4 currently has three different Zombies maps to play in, but they are split into two separate stories, each with its own charge. The “IX” and “Voyage of Despair” maps are part of one story, while the “Blood of the Dead” map is part of another. The perks, elixirs, and customizations you choose in one don’t affect the other, so make sure you have everything you need for the current map before entering the game.

Black Ops 4 automatically equips your characters with four “elixirs” — special items that give you unique abilities while fighting zombies. However, you’re not stuck with the ones you got. In the lower left corner of the Zombies main menu, you’ll notice an option to purchase new elixirs. Using the money you’ve earned from matches, you can buy three random elixirs, which you can then exchange for your current choices.
Experiment and find what works best for you, but don’t use “Anywhere but here!” elixir if you are playing with a group of people. The elixir transports you to a random location on the map, and this can completely separate you from your party and can lead to a quick mission failure.
Spend points to open new areas as soon as possible
Each of your maps starts in a small area. Getting out of that area is important. If you don’t explore the rest of the map, you’ll quickly be outnumbered by the oncoming hordes of zombies.
To fix this, don’t spend points on new weapons right away. Instead, open the doors located around the zone. This will lead to places with better weapons and perk shrines, as well as more room to maneuver.
You will also see a door marked with a red fleece. They can only be unlocked after completing the task. In the Voyage of Despair mission, you have to retrieve an artifact at the other end of the Titanic to open this, for example – when you do, you’ll find even more powerful equipment that can help you survive a few more rounds.
Use bots. They are your friends

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 it can be played completely alone without the help of any other teammates, but if you get knocked down alone during a match, you automatically lose. However, you can add up to three computer-controlled teammates to fight alongside you. In the lobby, but before the match starts, you should see an option to add bots. You can press it multiple times to add more to your game, giving you a huge advantage.

Killed zombies often drop a “Max Ammo” bonus reward, which instantly refills the ammo supply in both of each player’s weapons.
Because of this, if your favorite weapon seems to be running low on ammo, briefly switch to the spare and continue killing zombies to the best of your ability. Soon, someone from your team want fully charge your ammo.

In the earlier rounds of Zombies, the slow-firing weapons you’ll find on the wall may seem like a great upgrade to your starting revolver, but when you’re suddenly faced with numerous enemies, they become almost useless. Any assault rifle or machine gun with a high rate of fire will do just fine, and as a secondary weapon a shotgun is an excellent choice. You can take out several zombies quickly with one grenade, especially when they’re struggling to get through the boarded up area.
Each character in Zombies also has access to a special “Wonder Weapon” that deals high damage and has special properties. You can swap them out regardless of which character you’re actually playing in the mode, so experiment and find a few that you particularly like. For escaping the hordes of zombies, Hammer of Valhalla and Path of Sorrows are two great choices. Both are melee weapons that deal a damaging blow in front of you, swinging from side to side to take out as many nearby enemies as possible.
Check behind you — now
If you don’t know where the zombies are in a particular round, they’re probably right behind you. Seemingly without fail, zombies will spawn and attack you as soon as you turn your back, so it’s important to turn around regularly just to make sure the undead don’t sneak up on you. Failure to do so is the fastest way to get eliminated, which can lead to headaches – or worse – for the rest of your team.
Provided you have enough firepower, you can avoid this by positioning yourself against the corner of the room. This does open up the possibility of getting trapped, but you can usually use a Wonder Weapon to get yourself out of a bind.
