Hank Aaron

The Hall of Fame baseball player, born Henry Louis “Hank” Aaron, died in his sleep at the age of 86, the Atlanta Braves announced on January 22. “He has been a beacon for our company first as a participant, then with player development, and constantly alongside our community efforts,” the company said in a statement. “His incredible ability and determination helped him achieve the greatest achievements, but he never gave up his humble character. Henry Louis Aaron was not only our superstar, but one in Major League Baseball and around the world.” The home run hitter was notable for his 23 years as an MLB player, all but two of which were with the Milwaukee and Atlanta Braves. Off the field, he was a civil rights activist, suffering from inequality throughout his life.

Angie Jakusz

The Survivor alum expired in New Orleans after a long battle with cancer on January 8th. “Angie was an extremely enthusiastic person who had an extraordinary zest for life,” her loved ones wrote in an obituary posted through Nola.com. “Whether she was sewing, drawing, painting, doing nail art or makeup, costuming, diving, reading, scuba diving, traveling or just raising hell, she did it with laser precision. She was one of the founders of the New Orleans Sounds Coalition and was a competitor in Season 10 of Survivor.”

Joanne Rogers

The cause of death has not been determined at this time. “Fred Rogers Productions is deeply saddened by the passing of Joanna Rogers. Fred Rogers’ beloved partner for more than 50 decades, she continued his shared commitment to encouraging children and families after she left to head the Fred Rogers Productions board of directors,” Fred Rogers Productions said in a statement. “Joanne was a brilliant and accomplished musician, a great advocate for the arts, and also a dear friend to everyone in our business. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Joanne’s family along with the tens of thousands of people who had the opportunity to know and enjoy her.”

Phil Spector

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed on Jan. 17 that the audio producer died of “natural causes” on Jan. 16 while at an “outside hospital.” According to the statement, “his official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner from the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.”

John Reilly

“So thankful he was mine. So thankful I got to love him. So thankful I got to hold him and say goodbye,” the TikTok character wrote via Instagram.

Deezer D

The actor, born Dearon Thompson, died Jan. 7 at the age of 55 after being found unresponsive at his home in Los Angeles, TMZ reported. Deezer D was known for his role as nurse Malik McGrath on ER. After his passing, many former stars like Noah Wyle paid tribute to him on social media. “I lost a dear friend yesterday,” Wyle wrote on Instagram on Jan. 8. “He was one of the most creative and charismatic guys I ever knew and his gospel of joy got us out of many a dark place. I will miss him terribly.”

Tommy Lasorda

The former manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, who won two World Series titles with the group and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1997, died on January 7 at the age of 93.

Marion Ramsey

The former Broadway star died on January 7 at the age of 73. The celebrity, who was best known for her portrayal of police officer Laverne Hooks in the Police Academy franchise, was ill days before her departure, Deadline reported.

Tanya Roberts

The celebrity, who was famous for appearing as a Bond girl opposite Roger Moore in 1985’s A View to a Kill and enjoying Midge Pinciotta on That ’70s Show, broke into her house on Christmas Eve after licking her dogs. She was taken to the hospital and put on a ventilator. While her rep initially claimed she expired on January 3rd, Roberts’ husband, Lance O’Brien, later learned while filming a meeting with Interior Edition on January 4th that she was still alive. News broke on January 5 that Roberts had finally not recovered and had passed away.

George Gerdes

His life partner, Judy Johns, subsequently confirmed this information three times to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kerry Vincent

The Food Network Challenge judge expired on January 2 at the age of 75 due to an undisclosed illness.

“It is with fantastic sadness that I have to report the passing of Kerry Vincent before this day,” read a post on the Facebook page of the Oklahoma State Sugar Art Show, a non-profit company said by the Australian baker and cake developer. “Being a very private person about anything but cake, she didn’t want to share her illness with the general public. Sadly, her fight has come to an end, but she will be in no more pain. She will be greatly missed by all those she touched through Sugar Arts as [well] as soon as possible. There will be no services at her request.

Gerry Marsden

The singer of the British group Gerry and the Pacemakers died on January 3 after a short illness. The singer’s daughter, Yvette Marbeck, said her dad went to the hospital on December 26 after tests showed he needed a blood disease that had entered his heart. “It was a very short illness and actually too quick to realize,” she told the Press Association. “He was our father, our hero, hot, funny and everything you see is exactly what you have.”
