Channing Robertson is played by Tony Award winner Bill Irwin in The Dropout.
You may recognize this American actor from his roles as “Nate Haskell” on the series CSI: Crime Scene Investigation or as “Mr. Noodle” on Sesame Street (from 1991 to 2010). In addition, Bill has appeared in over 100 movies and TV shows, including The Andy Warhol Diaries (2022), Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (2013–2021), The Legion (2019), South of Hell (2015), Monday Morning (2013) and Turning Off the Lights (2011).

Before that, he worked as a professor of chemical engineering at Stanford until Elizabeth Holmes (then a freshman at Stanford) convinced him to let her join her lab at the graduate level. According to attorney Reed Kathrein, who represented the investors who sued Elizabeth, argued that Channing was only hired to give Theranos credibility. But Channing never responded to the claims.
Elizabeth’s trial ended in January 2022 and she was awaiting sentencing at the time of this writing.
As for Channing, his current whereabouts are unknown. He remained humble after life with Theranos. But we do know that he has resumed his work as a professor emeritus at Stanford, teaching a course on debunking energy myths.
