After the representatives of the French doctors for infectious diseases, the college of doctors and AP-HP (public aid – hospitals of Paris) demand the invoices of Christian Peronne. The head of the department of infectious diseases at the Garche hospital has been made up of many colleagues since his departure from the controversy surrounding the health crisis caused by the coronavirus.
According to him, 25,000 deaths could have been prevented if treatment with hydroxychloroquine – defended by Professor Didier Raoult – had been applied to all patients with Covid-19. He justifies this figure by comparing it with other countries that used chloroquine against viruses.

In another television interview, Professor Perronne accused the doctors at the Nantes hospital of “letting down (his) brother-in-law” when they refused to prescribe this treatment. “There is real corruption that has led to the death of tens of thousands of French citizens,” he declared, attacking opponents of hydroxychloroquine that had been “bought by the pharmaceutical industry”.
In April, Pr Perronne launched a petition, together with former health minister Philippe Douste-Blazy, to ease the urgency of prescribing hydroxychloroquine. However, according to most studies, this molecule has not been shown to be effective in the treatment of Covid-19. In addition, health authorities and the vast majority of scientists warn of its harmful effects. This is the reason why the prescription of hydroxychloroquine against Covid-19 is not allowed in France.

In response, the Order’s national council said on Thursday it had taken over the departmental council of the Ordre des Hauts-de-Seine, which reports to Christian Peronne. This could potentially lead to disciplinary action.
In addition, AP-HP entered its professional ethics instances, whose opinion is expected “before the end of July.” The question is “whether there can be a breach of the obligations of conduct (…) in a case where comments are required, with the authority of a responsible function in a public hospital university”, according to this reference signed by the general director of AP-HP, Martin Hirsch.

These statements angered many caregivers. The “health crisis” does not justify what people will say, nor what we do, no matter what happens!” Several structures specialized in infectious diseases thundered in a statement on Tuesday.
last week, a petition was launched asking the Council of the Order to condemn the words of pr. Perronne. He claimed to have collected more than 2,500 signatures as of Friday afternoon.
With the support of Luc Montagnier on Lyme disease
Even before this controversy, Christian Peronne was controversial in the medical community. In fact, he is part of the minority of doctors who believe in the existence of a chronic form of Lyme disease (borne by ticks), which has not been scientifically established.
“As with syphilis, symptoms flare up at the beginning of treatment and then disappear. With Lyme, it can start up to three weeks after starting treatment and falter for months before being cured,” he said in 2016, according to Figaro.

“The term ‘chronic’ is completely inappropriate,” replies Professor Daniel Christmann of the Infectious Diseases Service at Strasbourg Point University Hospital in 2018. “I have heard Luc Montagnier make several interventions on the subject. These comments have no scientific basis,” says Slice-Dos.
Perronne’s fan club
That doesn’t stop it from retaining supporters: They see the reluctance to use the drug as a sign of alleged collusion with labs that produce other treatments, despite a plethora of studies in its favor.
“Support Pr Perronne and Raoult against the lobby!” Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, president of the Standing the France party, tweeted on Thursday. In response to a petition against him over hydroxychloroquine, the Lyme Disease Association also launched another petition in support, which had nearly 77,000 signatures as of Friday.
Finally, a photo circulated on social networks on Thursday without knowing if it was authentic: it showed eight women in white coats, three of them on their knees, in front of Pr Perronne in a hospital room, with messages of support written on the back.
