Caitlin Covington married Chris Dorsch on June 3, 2018. In front of their closest and friends, the couple exchanged vows in Charleston, North Carolina. Caitlin, who traveled to Greenville, North Carolina for her first “big girl job,” according to her website, met Chris shortly after she got there.
“I met Chris 18 days after moving, although he wasn’t interested in me at first (haha). Chris pursued me and convinced me to go to lunch with him, which he called “harmless” and “friend zoned”. After that first date, I was gone! I quickly fell in love with him.”
The couple also had a daughter named Kennedy.
Since then, of course, she has been busy. Not only did she maintain her status as an influencer, but she also grew her family! Collins Francis Dorsch, Caitlin’s second daughter, was born on January 26, 2023.
Caitlin has more than a million followers on Instagram and her blog Southern Curls and Pearls is a popular shopping destination, but the influencer admits her online persona is “definitely not” a true reflection of her life.
Covington had no intention of making a career out of blogging. A passion project she started in 2011 to document sorority life at UNC Chapel Hill took off around the same time Instagram started gaining popularity. She never predicted how many likes and shares her post would receive, and as she became famous on social media, she began to feel debilitating anxiety and sadness.
“I never experienced anxiety or panic attacks until I started blogging,” says the 28-year-old. “Suddenly all these eyes were on me and they started to pick apart my personal life.”
“People can be so cruel on the internet,” she says, and it was only a matter of time before it became too much: “I could be doing something simple and then all of a sudden I’d have a panic attack.”
Caitlin’s nervousness began to interfere with her ability to work. She revealed that she only bought groceries online to get away from other people.
“I’m a very social person,” she said PEOPLE“My husband and I like to go out and see friends — it was very different from me not wanting to be in a social situation at all.”
Covington revealed that what should have been one of the happiest times of her life turned out to be horrible as she planned her 2018 wedding to Chris Dorsch.
“It was no longer about me and my husband,” she says. “I wasn’t thinking about getting married and how I was going to spend my life with him – I started thinking, ‘Oh my God, there’s going to be 800,000 people watching my wedding and judging it… it was really sad.’ “
Caitlin was honest with her mother and her fiancé. They urged her to change her lifestyle and see a doctor, who eventually gave her the antidepressant Lexapro. She is no longer afraid to share the reality behind her great photos.
“I have a lot of flaws,” she admitted, “My marriage isn’t perfect and my life isn’t perfect…but I know that even if my blog failed, or if everyone decided to turn their backs on me and hate me, I’d be fine … I have a family, my husband loves me no matter what, now I feel really safe.”
On Chris’ birthday in March 2023, Caitlin wished her husband: “Happy birthday @cmdorsch!!! Words cannot describe how grateful we are to you ❤️ seeing you as such a wonderful father to our girls makes me fall in love with you all over again. You deserve the best today (and every day) 🎉.”

Born Christopher Dorsch, he is the son of the late Teri Dorsch and Michael (Mike) J. Dorsch.
Michael was born on January 1, 1956 in Ripon, WI to Col. Donald A. Dorsch (Ret.) and Joan B. Dorsch (Florek). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, an MBA from Arizona State University and a PhD from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville. He married Theresa (Teri) A. Dorsch (Allemand) on July 28, 1984. In 1986, Mike and Teri moved to Ames, Iowa, where he was an assistant professor of marketing at Iowa State University; and in 1993, Mike and his family moved to Clemson, SC to accept a position as Assistant Professor of Marketing. He was eventually promoted to Professor of Marketing at Clemson University in 2007.
Michael passed away at the age of 63 in November 2018 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.
In August 2020, Chris shared about his father: “Today my dad received the title of professor emeritus of marketing at Clemson University. My family is very proud of what he accomplished at Clemson and the impact he made on the Marketing discipline. #ProudSon #GoneButNeverForgotten #CheersDaddy.”
Chris’ mother Teri was born on March 10, 1960 in Beaver Dam, WI to Mr. George E. Allemand and Joan B. (Boughton) Allemand, both now deceased. She earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and an MBA from the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville. She was a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at Iowa State University; and in 1993, Teri and her family moved to Clemson, SC. From 2007 to 2009, Teri was Associate Chief of Optics at Clemson Ophthalmology. From 2010 until her death, Teri was the office manager at Seneca Pediatric Endocrinology.
Teri was 53 years old when she died on October 20, 2013 after a year and a half battle with triple negative breast cancer.
