While the movie shows a bear becoming addicted to cocaine in the first few minutes, things are less simple than you might think. The cocaine in question comes from a plane that dropped it into the sky in 1985. The drug belonged to a kingpin named Syd, who ends up sending Daveed, one of his enforcers, and his crooked son, Eddie, to Georgia to get it back
At the same time, a police detective named Bob and another police officer named Reba begin their own search for a missing drug, and a nurse named Sari loses her daughter Dee Dee in the same woods. The climax of the film begins after Bob’s death, when Eddie and Daveed confront Syd, who also threatens to kill Reba. Reba doesn’t appear in the woods until the third act, when you also find out that she was actually working with Syd. Eddie, grieving the loss of his wife, decides to leave after he begins to realize that there are children in the woods who need his help.
The bear kidnapped Dee Dee and took her back to his den to be with her cubs and the cocaine. Syd eventually tries to vomit up the cocaine, but is unable to let it go and is mauled by a bear as a result. Daveed is nearly killed in the ensuing fight, but Sari manages to save his life and they manage to rescue Dee Dee and get out of the woods, leaving the cocaine and the bear behind.
Eddie decides to become a better father while Syd takes care of their young son. Meanwhile, Sara and Dee Dee grow closer as mother and daughter.
There are two stab wounds after the credits. The first reveals that the dog was biting Daveed’s fingers, which Syd shot earlier in the film. Another reveals that Stache found a duffel bag full of cocaine and decided to keep it. Many people have survived the sea lion, but who knows when it might strike again?
