Coloud relaunches, looking to make a big splash with its newest headphones

Coloud may not be a household name, but the brand is in good company: Its parent company, Zound Industries, also owns the Urbanears and Marshall Headphones brands. Now, Coloud is looking to differentiate itself by relaunching its brand and introducing a new product line to start with.

Unlike previous Coloud models, the new lineup has a similar naming scheme: no. 16, no. 8 and no. 4. The first two are in-ear headphones and the last one is in-ear. While features vary between different models, each is designed to be lightweight and durable to keep up with an active lifestyle.

Not even the top number. 16 on-ears won’t break the bank, selling for $40. This model offers an included mic and remote, as well as a foldable headband for easy portability, something not often found in this price range. Earrings no. 8 have many of the same elements seen in no. 16, while the foldable design has been scaled down in favor of a cheaper price of $30.

For those of us who prefer smaller quantities, the No. 4 not only provides more mobility, but is also the cheapest of the new line at $20. For the price, there are some features we wouldn’t normally expect to see, like an included gig bag and built-in magnets that allow the cases to sit securely around the listener’s neck.

While Coloud is making a big deal about the relaunch and new line, it’s important to note that its older models will remain on sale, including the Hoop headphones, which were introduced earlier this year. They may not have been the best headphones we’ve ever heard, but the semi-custom was certainly interesting.

To showcase the new headphones and his The Hoop model, Coloud made a one-minute short film. “These headphones are made for constant daily use,” Coloud brand manager Sofia Hjelm said in a related statement. “And that’s what the film seeks to capture through the lives of young people around the world: always on the go, always connected and always exploring.”
