According to ARS, 28 people who work at the Holvia Pork slaughterhouse in Laval have tested positive for the coronavirus.

A new slaughterhouse worries the health authorities: the Holvia Pork facility, located in Laval, is paralyzed, at least until the end of the week, due to the discovery of a series of positive cases of Covid-19, the Regional Health Agency (ARS) learned this Wednesday.

Holvia Pork has “temporarily suspended the activity of its units, at least until July 3 inclusive. The company has also decided to carry out the ‘access space’ in its entirety during the suspension of activity,” said a joint press release from the Mayenne prefecture, Pays de la Loire ARS and the company.

151 people were tested

This Wednesday a second batch of samples was taken, “to test 151 people who were not screened, especially those who work in the slaughterhouse workshops,” says the statement, adding that the slaughterhouse was closed pending these results.
