By speaking out about her aspirations, Dakota hoped to raise awareness for trans people and encourage trans viewers to feel comfortable and proud of themselves.
“So much about being transgender, in the media, and the sometimes aggressive, negative conversations about our identities can make us feel very down, but I’m excited to show the trans community and trans joy,” she explained.
But most of all, Dakota wants people to know that trans people love drag too. “I feel fulfilled as a trans woman and a drag queen. That doesn’t make you less valuable as a trans person,” she added.
