The seventeenth installment of Street Outlaws added a lot of new elements to the mix, and that included a new driver, bringing back old favorites like “Kamikaza” Chris Day and Chris “Boosted GT” Hamilton, and a new guy, Damon.
A rising star, Damon has been drag racing since he was 16 years old. “Another local kid introduced me to drag racing and we started training at a local high school in Thunder Valley in Noble, Oklahoma,” he recalled. That means Damon has been racing for over 20 years.
Now he drives his beautiful 1968 Camaro, nicknamed the “Rogue,” and has made it to the 405 Top 10 list.
Early on, Damon did a few index races in the Camaro. Back then it looked more like a 6.0 car. But as he started getting into bigger games, I wanted to play some heads-up with him, and it just completely changed everything. “I think I only used the roof and the rooms. Also, everything in the car is new,” he added.
Last time we checked, the Camaro was powered by Jon Faubion’s (Faubion Motorsports) big-block Chevy 548CI with an F3-121 ProCharger.
Not surprisingly, he managed to defeat Birdman and had a chance to compete against Kamikaze and the infamous Elco. Unfortunately, the kamikazes had a terrible accident in his career and Damon has been a regular on the show ever since.

Damon Merchant is a race car driver and reality star. But when he’s not racing, he sells and leases oilfield equipment at Superior Supervaks LLC. Specifically, his job there is operations manager and co-owner (along with Joe Lindsey and Janet Dedmon).
