He worked with Ings at Burnley for four years and the 31-year-old scored 43 times.
And after seeing Everton slump to a third defeat in as many games against Wolves, Dyche knows he needs more firepower.
The Toffees have already seen a £12m bid rejected by Southampton for Che Adams.
And they are now in talks to sign Udinese hitman Beto in a £25m deal.
The Portuguese ace scored ten goals in Serie A last season.
At almost 6ft 4in he fits the ideal profile for Dyche’s target man.
And Ings could be the ideal foil playing the role of poacher in the box.
Everton have already signed one striker this summer.

They spent £15m to bring in 19-year-old Youssef Chermiti from Sporting Lisbon.
He made his debut off the bench in Saturday’s 1-0 home loss to Wolves.
