A 25-yard free kick went over the wall and into the goal, a shot Beckham would have been proud of.
Becks, 48, couldn’t contain his emotions and began to cry, with his wife Victoria at his side to hug him.
He also hugged his daughter Harper who was there to witness the magical moment along with her older brother Cruz.
The former England captain high-fived his co-owner Jorge Mas, who was also in disbelief at what he had just witnessed.
Messi, 36, ran out to celebrate with a jubilant look on his face as the crowd went wild.
He hugged his old friend from Barcelona Sergio Busquets, who was also making his Miami debut, before taking the lap of honor.
A-list celebrities who turned up to get a glimpse of Messi were also left in shock, including Serena Williams and Lebron James.
Reality star Kim Kardashian accompanied Williams with her seven-year-old son Saint, who was wearing a Messi shirt.
