Meet David William Raubenolt, husband of Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt

David William Raubenolt is the husband of the late Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt and the father of the late Lillie Raubenolt. The couple reportedly met while studying at Kent State University, where Jessica Raubenolt worked at the Food 4 Thought Cafe, an on-campus restaurant, for about three years.

After graduating from Kent in 2016, David and Jessica exchanged vows later that year.

“They’re just an incredibly wonderful couple,” said Dakota Zickefoose, David’s friend from Loudonville High School. “David and Jessica were incredibly joyful people and it’s really hard to understand what’s going on.”

In Tampa, Florida on May 23, 2018, a car driving on Bayshore Boulevard struck and killed Jessica Reisinger-Raubenolt, 24, and her daughter Lillia, 21 months. The driver was social media personality Cameron Herrin who was racing with his friend John Barrineau at the time. The next day, the victims succumbed to their wounds.

In December 2019, David complained to the Hillsborough County Court that the prosecution of two teenagers accused of the tragedy that claimed the lives of members of his family was proceeding too slowly.

Hundreds gathered to remember their lives, and David addressed the crowd. “My wife would love to hug and kiss you all. I would too, but I don’t have the strength,” said David. He described how much he and his wife enjoyed being outside, especially in parks. He claimed that he was making the decision to remember their last day together as a day of happiness, laughter and sunshine.

“This was the most beautiful way my wife and child could have spent their last day on this planet,” David said.

In December 2019, David wiped away tears and asked Hillsborough County Court to schedule a trial in the case, saying the family has been suffering ever since.

“My name is David William Raubenolt. I am Lillie’s father and Jessica Raubenolt’s husband. I am the remaining extinction survivor for the Raubenolt family and bloodline,” David explained through tears. “Since the unspeakable and terrifying death of my wife and daughter, I have suffered terribly, every moment. It is almost impossible to put into words the agony of this legal process and the deep drama it has caused, which has increased exponentially every day since these defendants are out of prison.”

“We suffered because of birthdays, holidays and anniversaries; I didn’t have the privilege to enjoy these precious moments with my family, but the people who killed our two beautiful and irreplaceable girls most likely could – said David.

David also revealed that he had experienced serious health problems, including a near-death incident involving kidney failure in late January this year.

He concluded his testimony by declaring before the court. “I am asking the judge and the court to have empathy, compassion and mercy for my beloved wife Jessica Marie Raubenolt and our beautiful daughter, please speed this up and have justice, please help us survive, your honor. Justice is our foundation.”

A later investigation revealed that when Herrin swerved to avoid Barrineau’s car after coming dangerously close to hitting Reisinger-Raubenolt and her daughter, Herrin was driving 102 mph in a 45 mph zone. The study was scheduled for December 2, 2019, but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A week before the trial, on December 20, 2020, Herrin and Barrineau “decided to go their separate legal ways,” according to the publication.

After reaching a plea deal, the judge finally sentenced Herrin to 24 years in April 2021 and Barrineau to 6 years. In Graceville, Florida, at the Graceville Correctional Facility, Herrin is serving his sentence. July 8, 2044, when he is currently scheduled to be released.
