Roger Borniche, flic of the post-war period, which was converted into the writing of detective novels some of which have inspired the movie, died Tuesday in Cannes at the age of 101 years, learned AFP from his wife Michele. Roger Borniche was shown as a police officer in the early 50’s when he had tracked down of the figures of the crime as Pierrot le fou, Jo Attia, Emile Bush or Rene the Cane.

He could have stopped 567 mobsters during his career. It was then converted into the writing of detective novels, which have inspired several films : Flic story (Jacques Deray, with Alain Delon 1975), Rene the Cane (directed by Francis Girod, with Gérard Depardieu in 1977) and The indic (1993 Serge Leroy with Daniel Auteuil). His books have been translated into twenty languages. Two of them tell his own life : Borniche story and The indic.

Roger Borniche was born in Vineuil-Saint-Firmin in Oise, June 7, 1919. His father, a survivor of Verdun, is a house painter. Titi parisien, Roger is first comic trooper in 1937 and then singer-songwriter in the Cellar of the Republic.
