In March 2021, the series’ spin-off, Last Chance U: Basketball, premiered on Netflix and saw the once-struggling to win any game at the East Los Angeles College Huskies become title contenders under the guidance of head coach John Mosley. Dez was a student at Blair High School in Pasadena, California. During his freshman year of high school, he played in 31 games and averaged 20.6 points. His impressive performance earned him the John R. Wooden Player of the Year Award, presented by the California Interscholastic Federation-Southern Section.
Dez Washington joined the ELAC Huskies in a dual guard/forward role after high school. While at East Los Angeles College, Dez played a total of 29 games and was part of 8 conferences. Playing 465 minutes, he managed to average 10.1 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, which was quite impressive in the 2021-2022 season.
Head coach John Mosley had high hopes for Dez to reach the next level.
Where is Dez Washington today?
Dezmond has already completed his studies at a community college and is now a student at the University of Minnesota (UMN) Crookston. There, as a junior, he is studying general studies.
At UMN Crookston, Dez is part of the high school basketball team, the Crookston Golden Eagles. In addition, the University of Minnesota Crookston is also part of the NCAA Division II circuit, which will hopefully give Dez the boost he needs to move his career in the right direction.
