Meet Diane Rodrick, wife of survivor Roger Sexton
Diane Rodrick married the love of her life, Roger Sexton, on September 7, 1968, just one year after Roger returned from Vietnam (after serving his country honorably for one year).
After they were married, Roger joined California Polytechnic Institute, San Louis, Obispo, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in construction management in 1971. After that, he quickly built a successful career in estimating, eventually rising to the position for “Senior Estimator/Vice President”. at Tutor Perini Construction, one of the largest contractors in the United States.
Also, not long after that, CBS recognized his confidence, discipline and determination and he was cast in the sixth season of the competition series Survivor.
Now, 2 decades after we first saw him on TV, Roger Sexton has left the world. He died on October 26, 2022 at the age of 76 after a “brave and courageous battle against Lewy body dementia.”
But even though the star left, he left his family and friends with everlasting memories.
His consistent driving and incredible physical strength have allowed him to realize his dreams of backpacking in the Sierra Nevada mountains, skiing the powder snow of California, Utah, Idaho, Montana and Colorado, mastering the powdery terrain while heli-skiing in the Ruby Mountains and riding the dusty trails of Southern California on his mountain bike.

Diane Rodrick shared two daughters named Amy and Heather with Roger Sexton.
Sadly, Heather died young at the age of 16 from viral pneumonia on October 22, 1992.
As for Amy (born April 1977), she has been excellent living her life in Walla Walla, Washington as an elementary/secondary education specialist. She was also a patient advocate for the Walla Walla County Department of Human Services.
Additionally, Amy is the mother of two children (Drew and Hadley Evensen). She was married to Brian Evensen (born: September 1977), a substation electrician.
Her husband, Brian, has worked as an electrician for over 10 years on everything from the MGM Tower in Los Angeles, California to residential construction in Walla Walla, Washington. Now the boy also teaches electrical engineering for the wind turbine technology program at Walla Walla Community College.
Last we checked, Brian was a substation installer at Pacific Power.
Also, Brian seems to have had a good relationship with Roger. They were so close that Brian even invited his mother-in-law to lunch despite the fact that Roger suffered from dementia and got confused from time to time.
Amy’s daughter, Hadley, has already graduated, while her son, Drew, has just entered Washington State University to pursue his dreams of becoming a computer engineer.
“Be Dad used to say, ‘So long, alligator, soon, alligator, don’t let those moles slow you down,'” Roger’s grandchildren recalled.

After retirement, he earned a degree in construction management and continued to build his career at Tutor Perini Construction.
In the process, Roger was also cast on season 6 of Survivor. And even though he couldn’t perform, he won thousands of hearts, including those of his colleagues.
Season 6 winner Jenna Morasca addressed Sexton’s death in a Nov. 9 Instagram post, writing, “Despite our differences in the game, we are and always will be a family. [Sexton] He will be missed. I love his family during this heartbreaking time.”
For those of you who missed him on Survivor, Roger was rude and considered intolerant by his fellow castaways. He often clashed with Deena Bennett, who was fed up with Roger’s open misogyny: Roger believed that he would never vote for a woman to win.
Unfortunately, after the 19th, at Tribal Council, he was blindsided by the tribe in a 7-3 vote.
