Does Modern Warfare 2 have a Hardcore mode?
When Modern Warfare 2 first time running, it didn’t have a Hardcode mod, much to the disappointment of fans. Instead, the game had a mode called Tier 1, which was basically a rudimentary version of the Hardcore mode, with some missing features. For example, there is no HUD whatsoever, no hit markers, and no killfeed, which in some cases made it difficult to actually play the mod. Thankfully, Activision finally added Hardcore more in early 2023, replacing the Tier 1 mode from before.
What is Hardcore mode?

Hardcore mode reduces the player’s health to 30 from 100. It also removes most of the HUD, except during UAVs and other rare cases. Killfeed and hitmakers are enabled during Hardcore mode. Additionally, friendly fire is enabled in this mode.
This results in an incredibly fast flow that is not for the faint of heart. You’ll have to be careful not to accidentally eliminate your teammates — be it with bullets, explosives, or killlines. The nice thing about Hardcore is that most weapons work well because the player’s health is so low. You can one-hit kill with many weapons in the game, making it much faster than Core mods.
In addition, you will need to have a heightened awareness of the map in order to effectively navigate your surroundings. With that in mind, it’s best to spend some time with the game before jumping into Hardcore so you have a better knowledge of the map.
