Does the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G have wireless charging?

Announced at CES 2023, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G is an impressive follow-up to the A13 that launched in 2022. Despite being relatively low in price compared to other Galaxy smartphones, the A14 5G boasts some pretty solid specs and is an easy recommendation for anyone looking to get an Android 13 device on the cheap. But being so cheap, the question arises: does the Galaxy A14 5G have wireless charging?

Whenever a smartphone is sold at a bargain price, questions arise as to what high-end features have been removed to justify its low price. Wireless charging is usually one of the first to go, having become a staple of premium offerings in recent years. Now that the Galaxy A14 has been announced and available for purchase, Galaxy fans may be wondering about its wireless charging capabilities. Here’s everything you need to know about the Galaxy A14’s battery and charging capabilities.

The Galaxy A14 5G does not have wireless charging

Like the Galaxy A13 and the rest of the A1X lineup before it, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G doesn’t have any wireless charging capabilities. While that’s certainly disappointing, it makes sense that the feature wouldn’t be supported based on the A14’s price point. As mentioned above, there are so few budget smartphones that support wireless charging that it would be an unprecedented surprise if the A14 had the feature.

With wireless charging still considered a premium feature, it’s highly likely that budget Galaxy devices like those found in the A1X lineup won’t be around for a while.

The Galaxy A14 5G has a generous battery

Despite the lack of wireless charging capabilities, the Galaxy A14’s battery itself is pretty impressive. It features a 5000 mAh cell that pairs well with some of Samsung’s flagships. The Galaxy S22, for example, only has a 3,700mAh battery, while the Galaxy S22 Ultra has a 5,500mAh battery. Due to the size of the A14’s battery, you can expect it to hold a charge as good or better than Samsung’s flagship smartphones.

In addition to having a large battery, the Samsung Galaxy A14 5G supports 15-watt fast wired charging. While the 15W charging speeds are well above OnePlus’ 80W+ charging and the Galaxy S22’s 45W charging speeds, the Galaxy A14 5G can still charge semi-fast. By comparison, it’s faster than the 10W charging offered by the Moto G Play (2023).

Obviously, the A14 5G won’t be able to restore up to 100% capacity at the same time as something that supports faster charging, but you can still count on relatively fast charging.
