Equinor has found a successor to Chairman and CEO Eldar Sætres. The main challenge for Equinor, like other oil companies, is finding other activities that can replace the enormous profitability of oil and gas. The company has vast financial resources, but it must use them wisely to maintain its strength. An engineer with detailed technical and economic knowledge, with experience as a costkutter, may be what the company needs. He requires, however, a clear vision and a greater adaptation goal than the company has today.
Anders Opedal may be the man to provide Equinor with a core, relevant lineup for decades to come, or the man who parked it. It is an enormous task, of national importance.
