MAFS Australia: Are Alyssa Barmonde and Duncan James Still Together?
Alyssa Barmonde and Duncan James had what they call a “magical wedding.” Duncan appeared on the show looking for an instant relationship with his future girlfriend. He told 9 Now, “Life is too short to not be in a ‘punch in the face’ love story.”
“Sometimes you have to do crazy things to start a crazy love story, hoping to find my forever person,” Duncan told the entertainment outlet.
Things were positive because both Alyssa and Duncan had strong moral principles and a stable set of values. Both were also willing to take significant risks for their immense love. As her wedding day approached, Alyssa was overwhelmed with emotion from her and admitted that she thought Duncan would cry when she saw her.
“It would mean the world to me if this was ‘The One,'” he said.
But when Alyssa saw her boyfriend, it was she who wiped away her tears. He was immediately touched by her thoughtful gesture of taking out a handkerchief for her. “I’m completely speechless,” she said.
Duncan said he has imagined his wedding day “a thousand times” and is committed to building a loving and united family. Alyssa was delighted to be his princess while he searched for a fairy tale. Duncan claimed that he could tell that his new wife was a strong-spirited woman despite her tears and emotions. The trait was the one he was looking for. The two admitted that they immediately felt a great connection and warmth. The happily married couple shared a kiss in front of their loved ones like a true fairytale welcome.
“Duncan is absolutely my prince charming,” Alyssa said.
For their honeymoon, the couple traveled to the Victorian wine country, where their romance blossomed. Alyssa was delighted that her handsome new husband, a self-confessed “hopeless romantic,” never wanted their honeymoon to end. Duncan was surprised to discover that as their marriage continued to unfold spontaneously and effortlessly, he was feeling “a little queasy.”
“I just want to stay in this little bubble forever,” Alyssa added.
However, the wedding was not without drama. There was a scene with that bright pink garment, “billing smoke” and a heating device that viewers of the show missed. Alyssa’s beautiful dress caught fire on the most important day of her life as she huddled against the heater to keep warm. They discussed the incident with 9 now.
“It was a cold night on our wedding night at a macadamia farm in Byron Bay…” Duncan told the newspaper. Alyssa then added: “[My dress] it landed on one of the heaters that were there to keep us very warm and…it caught fire.” Although the garment was exposed almost immediately, the couple, who only met a few hours ago, consider the situation quite dramatic.
“I said, ‘Alyssa, you smoke!’ and she said ‘Thank you!'” Duncan laughed. “I said… ‘No, you’re literally smoking.’ Smoke was billowing behind her!” Alyssa found the script funny, according to Duncan, and she didn’t let it ruin her day.
“It was really sweet because my man of the moment said my wedding dress was ruined because it meant I would never have to have another one.” Alyssa said. Duncan went on to explain, “Any woman who can pull that off on her wedding day, congratulations to her!”
But the big question remains. Are they still married? Based on how well everything went for the couple, it probably is. But the journey is not over yet and we will have to wait and see how the relationship develops and what other dramas they have to go through.
